Medicare and Medicaid are not available in Pakistan. However, Pakistan does have its own government-funded health insurance program, called Seat Shaula Program (SSP).

The Pakistani insurance regulator, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), has suspended the articles of incorporation of a number of insurance companies, according to an announcement issued by the regulator.

The notification states that the suspension of the articles of incorporation has been done pursuant to Section 136 of the Companies Act 2017.

The suspension notice was issued by the SECP following reviews of the books and accounts of the insurance companies and the activities of the companies including the survey reports submitted by the Territory Insurance Officers.

The insurance companies mentioned in the notice include: United Insurance Company Ltd, Universal Insurance Сompany Ltd, Pak Reinsurance Company Limited, Central Insurance Ltd and My Home Insurance Company Ltd.

The SECP has directed the relevant companies to move to court for rectification and is also continuing investigations into the companies and their activities.
